Media NP 2010

Here is the link to the Slideshow from my Media NP In April 2010.
The books I referred to in the talk are linked to below and all all well worth reading or buying as they show a side of the media rarely seen.

Also check out the sites below I also mentioned in the lecture, the full list is in the last slide on the slideshow.

Save the Internet

The long video clip about the milk, the media and rbgh is from the film The Corporation linked to above. I cover this book and film in great detail in my Sophomore English class so if this type of subject interests please apply for my SE class. Again if there are any comments and / or questions feel free to post them below in the comments box.

References

If you are interested in the kind of thinking necessary for the future I recommend the Dan Pink book "A whole new mind - why right brainers will rule the future". It's a good read and will show some of the benefits of right brain thinking and how to develop it.

Also Edward De Bono has a lot of books on Lateral Thinking and thinking processes in general; Lateral Thinking and Six Thinking Hats are two good ones.

To tell if you are a right brain or left brain thinker try this visual test below that one of my students showed me.

and on Youtube in English.

NP on Technology & Critical Thinking

Hi all,

here is the link to the slideshow file of the NP from 19th April 2010. I hope you found it interesting and thought provoking.

Also here is a link to the video on technology in the classroom we watched.
Pay Attention

For the latest ideas for technology in education I usually check this blog, Free Technology For Teachers, but as students of course you can borrow the tools and ideas from this too. Also the CS class Communication Via Multimedia has it's own site and this site, while still under construction, does have lots of guides to using many of these tech tools so have a look, learn and use!

If you have any comments or questions about any of this feel free to post them below.

Thanks,

Rab
